In 2003, Justin Vermillion of EP&A Envirotac, Inc. was contacted by the Marine Corps 15th MEU (Marine Expeditionary Unit) out of Camp Pendelton, California. They needed dust control and soil stabilization for a forward operating base they established in the Registan Desert of Afghanistan known as Camp Rhino. Shortly after, Justin Vermillion traveled to March Air Reserve Base in Riverside County, CA. There he assisted in loading over 5,000 gallons of soil stabilization polymer packaged in 55 gallon drums into a waiting C-17. It would then be parachuted into Camp Rhino. The product successfully stabilized the sandy soil and controlled fugitive dust throughout the FOB. While there, Marines using the product gave it the moniker “Rhino Snot”. EP&A Envirotac, Inc. went on to sell more dust control / soil stabilization polymers to the United States Military to aide in Operation Enduring Freedom than any other company.
